MRS. WILMA RUTH BOWLES, 75, was born November 4th 1945 to Miss. Alease May in Memphis Tennessee and passed away on Sunday June 13th 2021. She attended Manassas High School, followed by Tennessee State University and Lemoyne Owen College where she soon graduated and became a practicing surgical nurse and Wynona and IU Hospital to finally retire in 2007.
How can we begin to summarize the life of one that touched so many. Wilma was a loving person that didn’t mind giving you a piece of her mind. She was loud, she was poppy and even in the end (as tired as she was) she was always ready to gossip. Wilma loved shopping, cooking and baking for more than enough mouths to feed. She was always on the go, always had something that needed doing and just had to do it herself because she was the only one that could do it to her liking. Over the week since her passing I’ve heard more than a few stories that would be hard to believe if they involved anyone else. Wilma loved and was loved more than can be explained here or anywhere. In our grief, we can only take it one day at a time.
Wilma was preceded in death by her grandmother Mrs. Ruth May, mother Miss. Alease May, sister Miss. Helen May, and granddaughter LaTasha May. She leaves behind her partner of fifty-four-years Melvin C. Bowles, three sons Dana T. May, Kevin D. May, and Darius V. Bowles; eleven grandchildren, Albert May, Candice May, Scott Harper Darrien Bowles, Steven Kaba, Jaylen Mallory, Dana May II, Danielle May, Aniya May, (Lil) Kevin Ingram, Darnel May; a host of great-grandchildren and her three nieces, Kimberly May, Patrice May, and Mrs.Tammy Young (OC).
