Michael James Stewart

Michael Stewart, 90, of South West Margaree passed away peacefully on Monday, Feb. 20, 2017 in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital. He was born on July 14, 1926, son of James and Catherine (MacLellan) Stewart.

Michael is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary, sons Michael, Daniel(Helen), Finley(Sylvia), Richard(Charlene), Ronald, Angus(Denise), Bernard(Joanne), daughters Cathy(Jerald), Rose(John), Mary(Robbie), Barbara(Scott), Deborah, many grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as his brother John and sister Florence. He was predeceased by his son Alex and daughters Camilla and Judy.

He was self-employed until he started working for the Department of Highways which he retired from in 1991. Michael was known for his wit, strong faith and always being there to help.

Mike was a loving husband, father, father in-law, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He had a great love for nature, gaspereau fishing, gardening, walks, playing cards, family visits and family trips/occasions.

Thanks to all of the home care workers, doctors, nurses, hospital staff and palliative care for all of their support and care.

Visitation will be held in Inverness Funeral Home on Thursday Feb. 23 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. The funeral mass will be on Friday, Feb. 24 at 11am in St. Joseph’s Parish in S.W. Margaree with Fr. MacDonald officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery.
