Fred Hastings Chandler, 83, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at Copiah County Medical Center in Hazelhurst. Visitation will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home on Thursday, October 31 from 11:00 AM to 12 Noon with the funeral service to follow in the chapel. Interment will be at Lakewood Memorial Park.
Mr. Chandler was born in Brookhaven, MS on August 30, 1936. He graduated from Brookhaven High School and Jackson State University. He was a card dealer at Ameristar, worked for American Airline, and retired from the Jackson Fire Department after 35 years of service. Mr. Chandler enjoyed hanging out and playing bingo at the American Legion with his best friend, Bud Tucker. He was a world traveler and especially loved his trips to Scotland to visit his grandchildren. He could often times be found enjoying a movie or watching Fox News.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Jennette Chandler; son, Jeffrey Chandler; and his parents, John Fred and Lois Bunyard Chandler.
Mr. Chandler is survived by his son, Todd H. Chandler (Louanne); grandchildren, Christopher Chandler, Robin Chandler, Kelly Bell (Sandon), Ross H. Chandler (Emily); great grandchild, Wrigley Ann Bell; brothers, James “Buddy” Edge (Debbie) and Brod Chandler; niece, Leah Justice and nephew, Benjy Edge.
