Mr. Calvin Ray Syphrit

Calvin Ray Syphrit, 77, a resident of Jackson, AL passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at Mobile Infirmary. Mr. Syphrit was a native of Gainestown, AL and was a retired instrument technician with Olin Chemical. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Jackson and a longtime member of the Jackson Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Syphrit was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Vivian Kittrel Syphrit, brother-in-law, Robert Duke and daughter-in-law, Lori Schultz Syphrit. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Betty Jo Syphrit of Jackson, AL; his children: Michael Dewayne (Kay) Syphrit of Jackson, AL, Darrell Ray (Tina) Syphrit of Grove Hill, AL, Charles Allen (Robbin) Syphrit of Jackson, AL, Jerrold Royce (Laura) Syphrit of Jackson, AL, Terresa Kaye “T.K.” Dixon of Jackson, AL, Sheryll Lynn Syphrit of Dothan, AL and Joseph Daniel “Danny Joe” Beach of Chilton, AL; siblings: Charles William “Billy” (Helen) Syphrit of Jackson, AL, Annette Duke of Saraland, AL and Katherine(Levoyde) Bradeford of Scyrene, AL; 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Active pallbearers will be Michael Dewayne Syphrit, Darrell Ray Syphrit, Charles Allen Syphrit, Jerrold Royce Syphrit, Logan Ray Syphrit, James Michael Syphrit, Christopher Adam Caldwell and Matthew Neil Farnell. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Allison, Robert Hutto, Blaine Champion, Jimmy Parker, Mike Whitehead, Earl “Sonny” Hoven, William “Jay Bird” Foxx, Erwin Cooper, Mike Furr, Billy Alday, Clay Myers, Buddy Skipper, Ray Beech, John Gaddis, Lee Danley, Tom Robert, Tom Thompson, Joe Bedwell and Kenny Bishop. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2015 from 1:30PM until 3:00PM at First Baptist Church of Jackson with the funeral service beginning at 3:00PM. Bro. Jerry Gibson and Bro.
