
James Slay Hudson, 90, of Jackson, AL died May 22, 2015 at Mobile Infirmary Hospital. He was former assistant chief of the Jackson Volunteer Fire Department and a member of First United Methodist Church in Jackson. He was employed in the paving and asphalt construction industry with McKee Construction Company. He was preceded in death by his wife Helen Sullivan Hudson; a sister, Willie Margaret McKee and brother, A.W. “Bud” Hudson. He is survived by two daughters, Claire (Burt) Parrish of Prattville and Lee (Mark) Magill of Marietta, GA; three grandchildren, David Parrish, Margaret (Russell) Murdock and Lucy Magill; two great-grandchildren, Anna Claire Murdock and Marlee Murdock. The family will receive visitors from 5-7 p.m. Monday, May 25 at the downtown Jackson Fire Station. Visitation will be from 12-1 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Jackson May 26, 2015. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. with the Rev. Alan Gantzhorn officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens with Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson directing. Active pallbearers will be Paul South, Mike Brown, Steve Williams, Harold Everheart, Mike Callahan and John Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be all the members of the Jackson Volunteer Fire Department, active and retired and members of the Christian Fellowship Sunday School Class at First United Methodist Church. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church in Jackson or the Jackson Volunteer Fire Department.
