William C. "Hoss" Batley Sr.

William Coates “Hoss” Batley, Sr., 85,of Jackson, AL passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2015 at his residence. Mr. Batley was born on June 13, 1929 to the late William Charley Batley and Euplena Dame Batley. “Hoss” loved hunting and Alabama football. He was prededed in death by his parents, 3 sisters and a grandson. Mr. Batley is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lois Batley of Jackson, AL; 4 daughters: Elaine (Louis) Bumpers of Oxford, AL; Linda Louise Batley of Jackson, AL, Marilyn (Donnie) Bedwell of Mobile, AL and Theresa (David) Dolbear of Jackson, AL; son, William Coates Batley, Jr. of Culleoka, TN; 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; 2 sisters: Mary Lou Jones and Willie Jones; and brother, Clyde (Mary Louise) Batley. Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Lathan Funeral Home on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at 1:00PM with Rev. Tommy Galliard and Rev. Molly Fulford officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery in Chastain Hill. Active pallbearers are James Chivers, Steven Bumpers, Aaron Guy, Jacob Ready, Mathew Dolbear, Wesley Thompson and Michael McIntyre.
