Ann Hayes was born Ann Elizabeth Goodman to the late Michael and Sara Goodman, on July 6, 1943, in Bainbridge, Northern Ireland. Ann entered into eternal rest on January 24, 2017 at her home in Great Neck, New York.
Ann immigrated to the United States in August 1963. In the same year, she met her husband, John Hayes. They were married two years later. Ann was a very private person, yet she was a good friend to those closest to her. She enjoyed a career as a private secretary. Ann had many different passions and hobbies during her life. She enjoyed cooking, especially French cuisine, and baking. Gardening was a passion as well. Ann could prune a tree as well as any landscaper. In her sewing room, Ann was a seamstress and made her own clothes.
Ann had an innate sense of style and design. It wasn’t something that she learned. She just knew. Ann always knew how something should look. She enjoyed decorating the exterior as well as the interior of the house. Everything that Ann did was met with perfection. She never gave up on any detail until it satisfied her very high standards.
While Ann pursued her many hobbies, she enjoyed listening to talk radio. Of course, you wouldn’t disagree with her unless you were ready for battle. Anyone who knew Ann, knows that her greatest passion and devotion were her dogs, as many as three at a time. Ann was a devoted proponent of animal rights and never hesitated to speak out against any form of cruelty. She was a kind, intelligent and highly creative person. She will be missed.
Ann Hayes is survived by her husband of 51 years, John.
