Alice Marie Graham, 89, lived a life full of beauty and grace. She departed this earth on January 1, 2017, to be present with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her kindness and love for others leaves a sweet aroma.
Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 P.M. at Raymond Road Baptist Church on Wednesday, January 4, 2017. Funeral services begin at 2:00 P.M. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park South on McCluer Road in Jackson, MS. Reverend Scott Ross will officiate.
Marie worked as a secretary for MFC Services and Keifer Saunders in Jackson, MS. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening and sitting on her patio with family and visitors. When one would leave her presences after a visit, a sense of joy and encouragement were felt as she made each person believe that they were the most important part of her day...and they were! Throughout her life, she made it a priority to be generous and kind to others, especially strangers.
She was married to Clyde Graham for 68 years. They enjoyed each other’s love and friendship until his death in 2014. In his last days, he told her, “I don’t know where I would be if you hadn’t come along.” These profound words sustained her in the days ahead as she lived her life without him.
She was a Christian and an active member of Raymond Road Baptist Church. Her friends and church family were an important part of her life.
She is survived by daughters, Kay Shields (Lucian) and Melba Graham; grandchildren, Chris Griffith Pittman (Christopher), Shane Griffith (Maggie), Justin Shields (Cindy); a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and an expected great-great grandson in January, Philip Graham Danielson.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jennie Bell Ivy and James Nathaniel Greer; husband, Clyde Graham; brothers, James, William Harris, Percy, Wiley, Rolly, Cecil, and Ray Greer; and sister, Myrtie Greer Brown.
Pallbearers are Charles Ivy, James Hollins, Wiley Greer, Christopher Pittman, Shane Griffith, Justin Shields and Alan Pittman. Honorary pallbearers are Michael Griffith, Drew Griffith and Jack Pittman.
The family would like to express a sincere appreciation and gratitude for: the staff at Wisteria Gardens, Bethany, Connie and Kate with her hospice care, all the calls and visits from ones that loved her, the ladies at RRBC and her neighbor and friend, Sandra Hollins, who gave so much of her time making sure each day was a joyous one.
