I was a deputy clerk assigned to the Lafayette office.  I did not know Ann well.  I saw her at  seminars  in Shreveport and I occasionally spoke with her by phone.  She was always pleasant in demeanor and overall, I thought she did  an excellent job as Secretary to the Clerk, Robert Shemwell.  I am very  sorry to learn of her passing.  I am certain she is in a better place.

My thoughts and prayers are with Ann's family at this time of sadness.  I worked with Ann in the Clerk's office in Shreveport, LA.  I remember her as a fun-loving wonderful friend, wife and mother.  I was on a co-ed softball team with her, Jim and the boys.  What an experience that was.  Ann will be missed by all that knew and loved her.

The memories of Ann go back way over 50 years, all of which are fondly stored in my heart.  Her beauty never faded through all these years, even with the suffering she endured so gracefully.  She was kind and loving to all  that were lucky enough to be a part of her life.  My heart aches for her family, as they were always so very close and I am sending prayers for each of them, in the hopes they will understand that Ann was called by God to come home, thus leaving her earthly life behind.  Rest well, my dear Ann, and know that you were loved by many, as you will continue to be loved for many lifetimes to come.  

Ed and I are so sorry for you're lost,  Ann was a wonderful wife, mother, friend, and second mother to so many.  To share a memory, where there are so many of baseball of Oxford, Jim and Ann opened their home and their hearts to the young men of Oxford.  They were always on the go with these young men helping Little Jim coach.  One season they made it all over the south for 63 games.  The miles and years, we haven't kept in touch but we never go to a baseball park that I don't remember this wonderful family and what they are were for us.  May the Good Lord, wraps his loving arms around each of you and give you peace.

Jimmy & I've been friends since kindergarten & shared wonderful times through the years. My sincere condolences to a beautiful family.

Ann is survived by her husband of 53 years, James O. Hawkins, Sr. of Brandon Mississippi; son James O. Hawkins, Jr., and daughter-in-law Vanessa of Northlake, Texas; son, Robert Allen Hawkins and daughter-in-law Trich of Allen, Texas; and grandchildren Ashley, Erin, Tyler, Will and Jason Hawkins. Other survivors are brother, Larry Allen and sister-in-law Rhonda; sisters Barbara Allen, Dot Harvey, and Pat Powers; sister-in-law Bonnie Allen; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents Raymond L. and Una J. Allen; brothers Raymond, Jr., Bill Allen, and Charles “Winkie” Allen; sisters Linda McLendon and Tish Hickman; paternal grandparents Thomas and Esther Allen; and maternal grandparents Jody and Amanda McNair.
