

Visitation will be Saturday, August 21, 2010, from 10 am to noon at Wright and Ferguson, Jackson. A graveside service will be held immediately following visitation at Lakewood Memorial Park, Dr. Charles Poole officiating.
Mrs. Pitts was born December 1, 1917 in Toccopola, MS (Pontotoc County). She pursued a business degree at the Memphis Business School, and in 1940 married Thurman L. Pitts and settled in Jackson. Married for 56 years, they were members of Broadmoor Baptist Church of Jackson. They were active in civic and cultural affairs, opening their home for many charity events.
She is preceded in death by her husband, an infant daughter, parents, Olga and A.C. Bonds, and brother, Wallace Bonds.
Throughout her life she was an inspiration to others in her work with the Mississippi Department of Agriculture, developing and coordinating the "Avenue of Magnolias." She was a member of Town and Country Garden Club, Las Camaradas Bridge and Luncheon Club, Pierian Club, Hermitage Club and Keep Mississippi Beautiful.
Her joy was her family, daughter, Cheri Pitts; son, Larry Pitts; grandchildren, Katrina Falk, Grant Harvey and Clayton Pitts.
Her compassion, kindness, humility, great strength and love will be in our hearts forever.
The family would like to thank Premier Medical Group and Dr. Matt Addison for loving care of 30+ years and Hospice Ministries.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Avenue of Magnolias, Hospice Ministries of Ridgeland, MS or your favorite charity.
