Mr. Barnett Rudolph “Rudy” Johnson, 87, husband of the late Zelma P. Johnson, passed away April 22, at Hospice Ministries after an extended illness. Visitation is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April, 29, at Grace Primitive Baptist Church with the funeral service immediately after at 10:30. Interment will follow at Lakewood Cemetery and Lakewood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Johnson served his country as a Fireman in the United States Navy and was a salesman for Capitol Tobacco Company. He was a member of Grace Primitive Baptist Church, formerly Jackson Primitive Baptist Church, since 1955 and served as deacon for many years. Mr. Johnson is survived by his daughter, Melinda Wood (Mike); son Rudy Johnson, Jr. (Patrice); stepson Bill Matthews (Martha); grandchildren Marlene Milroy (Jerry), Walt Wood, Jacob Johnson, Zachary Johnson, Ellen Cavender, Will Cavender, Amy Walley (Jason), Amber Stephens (Chris), April Matthews, Alex McGowan and Carmen McGowan; and nine great grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he is predeceased by daughter Cindy Cavender and step daughter Vicki McGowan.
