Betty married Harvey Jones and spent over 47 years together. She worked for more than 26 years for the Jackson Public School District as a food service manager. Betty was an avid member of Alta Woods Baptist Church where she taught the Bible for more than 50 years.
Betty enjoyed her life to the fullest by participating in and witnessing many wonderful events in her lifespan. She saw births, performances, and marriages within her family and engaged in daily conversations about the Bible and its teachings. Simply, she confidently placed her faith in Jesus to help her live life and face death with an assurance of God's love.
Betty is survived by her daughters Eady Godfrey of Florence, Mississippi, and Renee Miles of Clinton, Mississippi; and her son William Jones of Jackson, Mississippi; her sister Carol McAbee of Dallas, Texas; three grandchildren, two great grandchildren, 15 nieces and nephews, and many grand nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband Harvey Jones; her parents Dallas Harvey Sr. and Minnie Harvey; siblings Dallas Harvey Jr., Donald Harvey, Sue VanZandt, and Keith Harvey.
The family wants to sincerely thank ALL the people who cared for Ms. Jones and provided comfort to her during hospice services.
A visitation for Betty will be held Monday, July 7, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Lakewood Funeral Home, 6011 Clinton Blvd, Jackson, Mississippi 39209. A graveside service will occur Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at 9:00 AM at Lakewood Memorial Park in Section 23, 6000 Clinton Blvd, Jackson, MS 39209.
