Betty A. Martin

Mrs. Betty A. Martin, 85, of Brookhaven, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 17, 2022. Mrs. Martin, a Jackson native, was born on June 10, 1937 to Merle and Rena Ainsworth. After raising her family, she worked at the Van Winkle Baptist Church Day Care Center which became the Wildwood Baptist Day Care for 26 years. She was a member of Wildwood Baptist Church, but her favorite role was that of being a wife, mother and grandmother.

Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her husband, B.K. “Wimpy” Martin, and grandson, Christopher Overman.

Mrs. Martin is survived by her daughters, Rhonda Bartley (Kent) of Graham, NC, Kaye Lynn Martin Overman of Pearl, and Traci Whittington (Clay) of Brookhaven; grandchildren Kayden Overman, Reagan, Riley, Anna Reid and William Whittington, and Lauren Bartley; great-grandson Kayge Ross Cockrell; sister Peggy Lay, aunt Pauline Bailey, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday, September 23 at 1:00 p.m. at Lakewood Funeral Home on Clinton Boulevard in Jackson. The memorial service will be held immediately following at 2:30 p.m. She was loved and cherished by her family and will be dearly missed. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Blair E.
