Betty Turner McKee
August 27, 1932 – January 4, 2020
Betty Turner McKee passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2020 after an extended illness at her home. Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Lakewood South Funeral Home with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 pm. Interment at Lakewood South Memorial Park.
She is a retired educator and a lifelong Advocate for the Education and Advancement of all Children. Betty was a very talented seamstress, gardener, cook and self taught floral designer. She was a stranger to no one and a friend to all. Betty will be missed.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Earl Turner, Sr. and Minnie Davis Turner; brothers, Earl Turner, Jr., Robert Turner and Davis Turner; sister’s, Madge Turner and Anna Turner Evans.
She is survived by her husband, Leon Marcel McKee, of Gulfport, MS;one son, Lawrence (Larry) Tierce of Tupelo, MS; one daughter, Beverly Simmons (Don) of Waynesville, NC; step-daughter, Dr. Marsha Woffard (Jim) of Clemmons, NC; step-daughter, Beth Perez (Juan) of Orlando, FL; grandchildren, Carrie Satterfield (Max), Candice Pitts (Tom), Cassie Tierce, Brooke Freeman, Taylor Freeman, Brian Simmons, Patrick Simmons, Clair Woffard, Madelyn Woffard and Luke Woffard; great-grandchildren,Cain Sudduth, Rio Hardin Smith (Lonnie), Natalie Freeman,Wyatt Freeman, Mason Wheeler, Kohlbe Lewison, J.C. Smithey, Jude Tierce; Brian Simmons, Jr.,Tyson G. Freeman; great-great grandchildren, Korben Hardin and Calyn Smith, Virginia Rose Pitts.
