Mr. Billy Wayne Strum

Billy Wayne Strum of Clinton, MS passed away peacefully at his home on January 16, 2017, surrounded by family who love him. A celebration of his life will be held at Northside Baptist Church in Clinton, MS on Thursday, January 19 at 3:00 p.m., preceded by visitation at 2:00 p.m. and followed by a graveside service at Lakewood Memorial. Bill was born February 13, 1947 in Philadelphia, MS to Bennie Lee and Johnny Sibyl Warren Strum. He attended Morton High School and Mississippi College where he graduated with a BS in Chemistry. It was there that he met the love of his life, Landa Gayle Farrar. The two married on June 13, 1970 and his first greatest joys were born on August 29, 1974 and July 5, 1977, and March 14, 1985. Bill enjoyed working in industry and in pure chemistry acting as a process chemist, quality coordinator, process engineer and production supervisor at Engelhard Corporation for 20 years and retiring as Chief Chemist in the Materials Division of MDOT. He also served his country for more than 24 years, retiring as a Sergeant First Class to the 2nd Battalion 20th Special Forces of the Army. Bill loved sports and was a lifelong fisherman. He was a long time member of Northside Baptist Church in Clinton, MS where he served as deacon and is currently a member of First United Methodist Church in Clinton, MS. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Bennie Lee and Johnny Sibyl Warren Strum. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Landa Gayle Farrar Strum; son, William Farrar Strum (Lisa); daughters, Landa Gayle and Nancy Leigh Strum; grandchildren, Madyson Estelle and William Vaughn Strum; brother, B.T. Strum (Marilyn); niece, Leah Strum Hardin (David); nephew, Matt Strum (Donna); brother-in-law, Pitt Farrar (Nancy); nephews, Dean Farrar (April) and Clint Farrar (Katy); many great nephews and nieces, and Lula McGraw, beloved friend and honorary member of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
