On January 18, 2024, Bonnie Jean Brantley Sartin, 93, left her earthly home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Funeral services are at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 27, 2024, at the Lakewood Funeral Home in Jackson, Mississippi. Interment to follow at Lakewood Cemetery. Visitation will proceed the service at 9 a.m.
Bonnie was born to William Ferman Brantley and Minnie Lee Wolverton, on June 15, 1930, and grew up in Walnut Grove, MS. She was one of five brothers and sisters living during the great depression. Two brothers passed away from illness before her birth. Those pictures remained over her bed for many years.
After the war, Bonnie married her sweetheart Sedgie Weldon Sartin on June 15, 1946. They began their Sentimental Journey in Jackson, Mississippi and for sixty-eight years they walked together.
She was a beautician for many years. She worked from her home and served a faithful clientele. She also prepared the hair for a local funeral home to serve others in need. They raised their three children in the Broadmoor section of Jackson before moving to Cleary, Mississippi. Later they moved to Carthage, Mississippi and eventually Texas to be near her family.
Her hobbies were sewing, stitching and needle point. In her younger years she did intricate needlepoint for wedding dresses. I am sure she is singing among the angels who were the objects of her needle point many times.
They attended Broadmoor Baptist Church, Cleary Heights Baptist Church, and finally First Baptist Church of Celina, Texas. They were deeply loved by all who knew them.
She is survived by her sons Ralph Sartin (Shirley) of Prosper, Texas; Danny Sartin (Cathy) of Bartlett, Tennessee; Jerry Sartin (Teri) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; seven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grand child.
We will always carry the memories of her southern cooking and hospitality!
