Boo Noble died from cancer at home Friday morning, June 26, within view of his beloved Lake Castle in Madison, family by his side. He was 73 years old.
An entrepreneur from the age of 16, his 50 years in the restaurant and bar business helped open more than twenty restaurants and culminated with Que Será Será, which served the Jackson area from Fondren for 27 years until June 2016, earning him status as a “grandfather of Fondren.”
After learning his craft in various places from New Orleans to Tahoe and opening Que Será Será, Boo was happy to return to Lake Castle in 1991 to raise his family, having grown up around the lake, which was built by his paternal grandmother’s husband, Lamar Castle.
Living life to the fullest, Boo enjoyed his hobbies including racing in Road America competitions across the country in “The Beast,” his Porsche 911, Caribbean scuba diving, flying hot air balloons, and tempting fate in his self-built powered parachute, all “cash-injected” as he liked to say.
Boo took most things to the limit, some over, and he certainly lasted longer than he thought he would. But, his most special memories were clearly always those he shared with his kids, for whom he consistently went above and beyond.
He was born April 18, 1953, in Oxford, MS, son of Eugenia (Stevens) and Bumond Noble. He is survived by his children, Renee, Perrin and Taylor, along with his grandchildren, Trevor, Lily and Coen, who called him “Papa Boo,” and his siblings, brother Steve and sisters Cindy, Terry, Robin, Chris, and Noel.
In addition to the space he created for memories for so many, the wry smile through his thick moustache, infectious laugh, playful joviality, quick wit, and unique sense of humor will surely be remembered by all who were fortunate to know him.
He will be buried at Lakewood Memorial Park near his mother. Arrangements for a memorial service will be shared at a later date.
