

Burtus Perrell Usry , born February 18, 1927, went to be with the Lord March 12, 2015. He is predeceased by his parents Jesse Willis and Henrianne Usry , six brothers, Willis, Lee, Arlue, Roy, Jesse, and Jerry Usry, and one sister, Louise Usry. He served his country in the United States Navy on the U.S. Montauck then went on to college and graduated from Bowling Green in Kentucky. He was an active member of Wildwood Baptist Church. Burt lived in Clinton, MS for the past twenty years. He was active in Lion’s Club, Master Gardening Club and Gideons. Burt was employed by Mississippi Power and Light Company, now Entergy, for 43 years.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Vivian E. Usry, two sons, Michael P. Usry (Jane) and David N. Usry (Ann) of Clinton, one daughter, Melinda (Mindy) L. Usry, eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
Burt absolutely adored spending time with his family and gardening. He was very much a people person, loving and touching deeply all those that met him, never meeting a stranger. His faith and servant hood were his passions, epitomizing all aspects of the fruits of the Spirit.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, March 17th at 2:00 p.m. at Lakewood Memorial Funeral Home on Clinton Boulevard. Visitation will be Monday, March 16th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. and Tuesday at 1:00 p.m.
The pallbearers are Robert Castle, Jimmy Payne, Jacky Burney, Elmer Johnson, Bill Moore, Phil Chisolm, Darrell Donaldson and John Brinkman. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of his Sunday school class from Wildwood Baptist Church.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude and appreciation for all of Burt’s caregivers at the Veteran’s Administration Nursing Home and Saint Joseph Hospice.
