Carolyn was born on September 3, 1952, in Jackson, Mississippi to Ralph and Rose Wooten. She was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She spent many years as Director of Special Education for Mississippi and after retiring started her own business, C-SPED (Center for Special Education Services). She was lovingly known to her family and those close to her by her nickname, ‘Sissy’ or ‘Aunt Sissy’. She was the cornerstone of our family and enjoyed planning all of our holiday gatherings . She loved to be by the water and her favorite place to be was at the beach listening to the sound of the waves.
Carolyn is survived by her two daughters: Nichole Carver (Adam) of Louisville, Mississippi and Katherine Armstrong (Kyle) of Simpsonville, South Carolina. She is also survived by two nephews: Chris Wooten (Denise) of Brandon, Mississippi and Ryan Wooten of Oxford, Mississippi. One of her greatest joys was being ‘Granny’ to her four grandchildren: Aiden, Reece, Avery and Elliot.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Rose Wooten; her brother and sister-in-law, David and Patty Wooten; and her niece, Trisha Sullivan.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials in honor of Carolyn be made to the Baptist Cancer Foundation. A graveside service will be held at Lakewood Memorial Park on Wednesday July 15, 2026 at 11:00 am.
