Mr. Charles Maxwell Carnes, 89, passed away on Monday, June 22, 2015 at Select Specialty Hospital in Jackson, MS. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:30 PM on Wednesday, June 24 at Lakewood Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home chapel on Thursday at 11:00 AM with interment to follow at Lakewood Memorial Park. He was a native of McComb, MS and was preceded in death by his parents, Charles E. and Martha M. Carnes; and wife of 42 years, Martha Ann Carnes. He was a former member of Centenary United Methodist Church in McComb. He has been a member of First United Methodist Church in Clinton for 37 years. Survivors include his daughter, Jill C. Morgan and her husband, John J. Morgan of Clinton, MS. He served in the United States Navy as a sonar operator on the USS Davis Destroyer. He was employed for a number of years by South Central Heating and Plumbing Co. of Jackson.
