

Cindy Finch ,60, was born in New Orleans, LA, October 21, 1954. She passed away July 9, 2015, in Meridian, MS. The funeral service will be at Lakewood Funeral Home in Jackson on Wednesday, July 15, at 11:00, with visitation beginning at 9:00. Burial will follow at Lakewood Cemetery. Cindy was a long time resident of Jackson and Clinton, MS, and member of First Baptist Church in Clinton. She graduated from Magnolia Academy and Mississippi College with honors in 1976. While teaching at Bolton/Edwards Attendance Center, she received her Master's Degree from Mississippi College. After moving to Oxford, she taught the Gifted Program at Holly Springs schools and later moved there being an active member of First Baptist Church. In 2013, Cindy moved to Meridian where she taught at West Hills Elementary School until her recent retirement. She was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church. Cindy is survived by her mother, Elizabeth Finch, of Clinton and Richland; her aunts, Marlene Lee, of Walker, LA, and Earline Slawson of Jackson. Other survivors include Deanie (Richard) Mills and family of Austin, TX and Brandon, MS;; Hayden and Marlem Lee and families of Walker, LA; Christi Stewart and Suzanne McCoy and families of Clinton; and special friend, Barbara Mood of Oxford. Preceding Cindy in death are her father, Dorles Guy (Doyle) Finch; uncles, Francis C. (Frank) Finch. James Slawson and Bill Lee; her grandparents, Guy and Flora Finch and Marion and Esther Lee. Cindy was an avid reader and collector of books. She also enjoyed the gift of song, being a member of several choirs. She loved the Lord, her teaching career, her family and friends, her church and traveling to many places. Thanks to all of her teacher and church friends in Meridian who helped so much during her recent illness.
