David O. Weed

David O. Weed, was born, October 1, 1946, in Greenville, Mississippi, to Oscar and Johnnie Faye Gore Weed.

He grew up in Century, Florida, where he attended school at Century High School, in Escambia county. He had a passion for football and he loved being a blackcat.

After graduation, he attended college at Mississippi College, in Clinton, Mississippi, where he was able to play his favorite sport football. After attending MC for about two years, he was called to become a soldier in the United States Air Force. He completed over a year and a half tour of duty in Vietnam. He specialized in working with the K-9 dogs and received special medals of commendation and honors for his service. He was a Hero, to many!

Upon returning from the Vietnam War, he went back to school at MC for about a year. At this time, he met and married the one true love of his life, Brenda Cheatham Weed. After marriage, David and Brenda moved to New Port Richie, Florida, where he began a career as a law enforcement officer. After he became an officer, he and Brenda had their first son, Jon T. Weed. Shortly after, he became a Florida State Trooper, for eight years. Then he and Brenda, both, moved to Jackson, Mississippi, where they had their second born, Pepper L. Weed. He had a career at Ryder Truck Rental, as a District Safety Director, for nineteen years, in Richland, MS. He also worked for Mississippi Logger’s Association as a Safety Director, for about eight years, before he began his retirement in Raymond, Mississippi.

Mr. Weed, at 74, died on Friday, March 12, 2021, at St. Dominic Hospital.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Johnnie Faye Gore Weed.

Survivors included are: sister, Elizabeth Anne Nolen; wife, Brenda Cheatham Weed; son, Jon T. Weed; daughter, Pepper L. Weed-Cooper; son-in-law, Lane Cooper; daughter-in-law, Stephanie Weed; and 5 grandchildren, Travis Chase Weed, Jon David Weed, Brooke Lee Cooper, Waylon Ryan Weed, and Ella Grace Cooper, whom he all loved with all of his heart.

A celebration of his life will be held on: Saturday, March 27, 2021, from 2:00pm-5:00pm. Visitation will be from 2:00pm-3:00pm, the service will begin at 3:00pm. Refreshments will be served following the service. Family and friends are invited to share stories about David around the campfire to celebrate sweet memories and to honor him. The celebration will be at 3700 Moncure Marble Road, Terry, MIssissippi, 39170, the home of Jon and Stephanie Weed.
