David Eugene Wells

David Eugene Wells, 67, passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. Visitation will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home on Thursday, May 28, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 PM and on Friday from 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home chapel on Friday at 1:00 PM with interment to follow at Lakewood Memorial Park. David was born on December 9, 1947 to the late Lewis Venable and Frankie Leon Wells. He was inducted into the Hinds Community College Sports Hall of Fame for his athletic talent in both basketball and tennis. He went on to play basketball at Belhaven College. David worked for Delta Airlines for 32 years and in his later years enjoyed playing golf. Above all, he will be remembered as a loving husband, father, pawpaw, brother, and friend. He is preceded in death by his step-father, Fred G. Sones and brothers, Tommy Joe Sones and Lewis V. Wells. David is survived by his wife of 47 years, Becky Foose Wells; daughter, Leah Sherer and son-in-law, Joshua Sherer; brother, Michael Wells; sisters, Charlotte S. Mann, Jean S. Gardner, Cheryl W.
