

Donald Michael Cooper passed away November 28, 2012, after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born November 2, 1935, in Crossett, Arkansas. Shortly after high school, he served in the United States Air Force from 1953 until 1957 and was stationed in Japan. After he returned to the States, he attended Los Angeles College from 1958-1960. He then moved to New Orleans where he worked as comptroller for Fischback and Moore, a national electrical contracting firm known for their work on the New Orleans Marriott Hotel and office complexes from 1961 until 1972.
In 1972, he moved to Jackson and began Donald Cooper Real Estate, Where he was owner/broker for over 30 years. Don was a long term member of Jackson Board of Realtors, Mississippi Association for Realtors and the National Association of Realtors. He was also a communicant of St. Andrews Episcopal Church for over 25 years.
Don was preceded in death by his parents Ona McArthur Cooper and Dewey Quillen Cooper and a brother Dennis McArthur Cooper. He is survived by his brothers; Dewey Q. Cooper of Houston, Texas and Jerry Bayless of Monticello, Arkansas. Other survivors include his niece Rebecca Arnold and Nephew Joseph Cooper along with several other nieces and nephews. He also leaves his partner and best friend of over forty years James Cooper Westerfield.
Memorial gifts may be made to St. Andrews Cathedral, 305 E. Capital Street, Jackson, Mississippi, 39201. Visitation will be held on Friday November 30, 2012 from 12 Noon- 1:00pm in St. Francis Hall at St. Andrews Cathedral, Followed by the funeral at 1:00pm. Burial will follow at Wright and Ferguson On highland Colony Parkway.
