Mrs. Doris Marie Hayes

Mrs. Doris Hayes, 88 entered into eternal rest on Monday, March 20, 2017 at her home in Jackson. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Lakewood Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home chapel on Friday at 11:00 AM with visitation one hour prior. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park.

Doris was born in Ripley, TN. She lived in Jackson for the past 47 years. She was an industrial engineer in the clothing industry in the early years of her marriage to the love of her life, John "Jack" Hayes, Sr. She raised their three children as Jack pursued his career with the Illinois Central Railroad. After Jack passed away in 2005 she began designing jewelry and scarves thus starting her business "Doris Marie Designs".

Doris was a dedicated member of Broadmoor Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, John Hayes, Sr., her parents, and her sister, Catherine Hemby.

Doris is survived by her loving children, Janet Collins and husband Lee, Pamela Tisdale, and John Hayes, Jr. and wife Jeanne; seven grandchildren, Riley Roberts, Madison Wilson and husband Bryan, Cadie Collins, Casey Collins, Christian Collins and wife Kelly; 3 great grandchildren, Peyton Collins, Bryant Collins, and Maddox Wilson; 4 nieces, Melanie Hayes, Holly Smith, Alissa and Hallie Cox.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Ministries of Ridgeland of which Mrs. Hayes’ family would like to express a special thanks to Paula Nowell for her loving care and support.
