

Mrs. Doris Pruitt Kelly passed away on June 7, 2013 at the age of 92. Visitation will be Monday, June 10, 2013 at Wright and Ferguson Downtown from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Services will be at 11:00am Tuesday at the Salvation Army Worship Center on Beasley Road with visitation starting at 10:00am. Interment will be at Lakewood Memorial Park in Clinton.
Mrs. Kelly was born in Brookhaven, MS and attended Hinds Junior College. She retired from Bellsouth after 50 years. She spent the majority of her career providing service to the community as President of the Mississippi Chapter of the Telephone Pioneers of America.
Mrs. Kelly was also a member of the Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary, the League of Democratic Women, Businesswomen of Mississippi, the United Telecommunications Workers of America, Mended Hearts, and numerous other organizations. She was a founding member of Van Winkle United Methodist Church.
In 2012 she was honored as an Angel by the Salvation Army for her numerous philanthropic works.
She is preceded in death by her husband, the Honorable Thomas B. Kelly, her twin sister Dorothy P. Woods, and her niece Claudia Woods Stewart. She is survived by her great-nephew Dr. James D. Stewart of Jackson and her great-niece Sarah S. Fargier of Toulouse, France.
