Betty, age 93, passed away on June 23, 2021. She was born in New Orleans, LA on June 10, 1928 to the late Virdie Paul and Roberta Mashburn Zeringue. Betty is preceded in death by her husband, D.D. “Joe” Ballard. She is survived by one daughter, Cynthia Price of Nashville, TN; two sons, Ronnie Ballard and Dwayne (Melissa) Ballard of Clinton, MS; five granddaughters, Alexandra Price of Nashville, TN, and Heather Price of Washington DC; Ashton (Josh) Tart of Portland, OR, Brecken Ballard of Clinton, MS, and Lacey Ballard of Memphis, TN; one great-grandson, Simon Tart; two sisters, Norma Talbot of Pensacola, FL and Joy (Bob) Marble of Little Rock, AR and numerous nieces and nephews.
Betty was a longtime member of Parkway Baptist Church. She was raised in Raymond, MS, graduated from Raymond High School and Hinds Community College.
Betty and her husband, Joe, were longtime residents of Jackson and Clinton, MS. After she and her husband retired she volunteered at the Baptist Hospital one day a week for 25 years.
She was a very active member of the Clinton Senior Citizens group.
She was a master of handwork, making many crocheted bedspreads and other keepsakes. Betty was a very kind and caring person, whose greatest joy was doing something for someone else.
Her last years at St. Catherine’s were a delight to her, taking advantage of all activities and making many new friends, as well as, enjoying ones from years past.
Betty will be missed by many, especially her family who loved her dearly.
Her service will be on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Lakewood Memorial Funeral Home.
Visitation will be: 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. with her service of celebration to follow.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to St. Catherine’s Village, Attn: “The Stichers Club” or your favorite charity.
