Mrs. Elsie Christine Newsom, 68, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2015 at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. Visitation will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 12:00 Noon in the funeral home chapel with interment to follow at Lakewood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Newsom was born in Lexington, MS on June 8, 1946 to the late James Dow and Minnie Gosa Johnson.
She is preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Winnie Glenn Stewart and Bonnie Jean Johnson.
Mrs. Newsom is survived by her husband, Jerald Newsom; daughters, Tina Bennett (Dennis) and Denice Perkins (Pat); brothers, William Johnson and James Johnson (Joyce); sister, B.B. Jones (Steve); grandchildren, Josh Hall, Travis Perkins, Kelly Perkins, and Zachary Perkins.
