Faustina Bautista Mejía de Robertson, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, entered her eternal rest on November 27 at the age of 72. Surrounded by the love of her family and strengthened by her faith, she was welcomed into her heavenly home with the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” There she was joyfully reunited with many loved ones who had gone before her.
Faustina was born on December 24, 1952, in Santiago Jamiltepec, in the southern state of Oaxaca, Mexico. She was the cherished daughter of Maximino Bautista Cruz and Manuela Mejía Cajero. Raised in a traditional Catholic home, her life took a profound turn when missionaries arrived in the Pacific coastal regions of Oaxaca. Through their message, she heard the Gospel of grace and made the life-changing decision to follow Jesus, an anchor for the rest of her life.
At age 17, Faustina began working alongside Audrey Johnson, a linguistic missionary with the Summer Institute of Linguistics. The organization’s mission was to translate the Holy Bible into the Indigenous languages of the world, which became deeply meaningful to her. Oaxaca, with its rich tapestry of Indigenous cultures and languages, shaped Faustina’s passion for faith, language, and service.
During a visit to Tlaxiaco, Oaxaca, Faustina met David G. Robertson, a missionary serving with Missionary Revival Crusade. Their friendship grew into a lifelong partnership, and they were married in December 1981. Together, they built a home rooted in faith, love, and devotion to their ministry and family.
Faustina is survived by her husband, David, and their six children: Nathan Robertson, Deborah Young, Samuel D. Robertson, Andrew Robertson, David Joshua Robertson, and Helen E. Browning. Their family is spread across Mississippi, Georgia, Texas, California, and southern Oaxaca, Mexico. She is also lovingly remembered by her six grandchildren: Savannah, Elijah, Elora, David James, Nova, and Zachary, each of whom brought her immense joy.
Faustina believed her life’s calling was to help bring Scripture into her native language and to pass down the Gospel to her children and grandchildren. She fulfilled that calling with unwavering faithfulness. She was an extraordinary mother; loving, compassionate, and steadfast, and a grandmother who cherished every moment with her family.
Her legacy of faith, service, and love will continue to shine brightly through all who were blessed to know her.
Visitation will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home, located at 6011 Clinton Blvd, Jackson, Mississippi, 39209, on December 1, 2025, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. The funeral service will follow at the same venue at 11:00 am. The final resting place will be Lakewood Memorial Park, located at 6000 Clinton Blvd., Jackson.
