OBITUARY
Faye Maxine Dorman Ashley
September 12, 1929 – December 23, 2020
Faye Maxine Ashley, 91, was born on September 12, 1929, to Fred and Claudia Dorman in Shaw, MS. Maxine was a life-long resident of Jackson, MS. She was married to Hayden Ashley for 67 years, and they raised two children Glenda and Ron.
Not only was she an amazing wife, mother, and grandmother, she created a warm home that welcomed everyone with love. She was a great seamstress, cook, and minister. Maxine was a lifelong Sunday School teacher, and ministry was a major part of her life where she mentored young women in how to be a Godly wife. She would hold backyard Bible School for the neighborhood children. She spent many hours in prayer pursuing her relationship with Jesus. She had a vulnerable, tangible love for Jesus that others could feel whenever they were around her. She was currently a member of River Mountain Church in Yazoo City.
Maxine moved to her heavenly home on Tuesday, December 23, 2020. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Claudia Dorman, her siblings, Fred Dorman, Jr, and Francis Dorman Cotton, her husband, Hayden Ashley, and her son, Ron Ashley. She is survived by her brother Scott (Sylvia) of Golden Meadow, LA, her daughter, Glenda Robinson (Danny) of Clinton, daughter-in-law, Lynn Ashley of Tyler, TX, and five granddaughters, Wendy Kane (Robert) of Clinton, Rhonda McCollum of Nashville, TN, Holly Humphreys (David) of Yazoo City, MS, Angela Harvey (Les) of Tyler, TX, and Jennifer Wharton (Chris) of Tyler, TX, and ten great-grandchildren.

Glenda, we are sending love and prayers. My mother, Margaret Jean, so loves her Dorman cousins and your Mother was special to her! Mother’s phone has been affected by the Nashville bombing so she can’t receive calls. We are making sure she knows when the service is so she can worship with y’all.

Maxine and Hayden were wonderful Christians and friends of our family. Ron was one of my best friends. My memories of the Ashley family go back to the 1950s. We have so many wonderful memories of Maxine. She coordinated our Marriage ceremony which was perfect. Our condolences to Glenda and her family.
