Mrs. Geraldine S. Atwood
November 15, 1936 – July 29, 2022

Geraldine “Gerry” Sullivan Atwood passed away Friday, July 29, 2022 at her home in Clinton, MS. Visitation will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 3 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM with the funeral service to follow. Interment will be at Lakewood Memorial Park.
She was born November 15, 1936 in Smith County, MS to Walter Fredrick Sullivan and Nellie Mae Wells Sullivan. After her college years she worked as a secretary at Midway Baptist Church in Jackson, MS. She later sold Avon and then went on to work 25+ years as a sales secretary at Mississippi Valley Gas in Jackson, MS.
She was married to Joe Junior Atwood, who was serving in the Unites States Army, on October 2, 1959. They raised three boys until his passing in 2002. She was loved by many family, friends and coworkers. She was an active member of Parkway Baptist Church in Clinton, MS.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, James Sullivan of Prattville, AL. She is survived by her 3 sons, Marcus Atwood (Kimberly Wiggins Atwood) of Clinton, Tony Atwood (Anita Phillips Atwood) of Bolton, and Tim Atwood of New Albany, MS. She is survived by her sister, Linda Dalton of Mize, MS and two sisters-in-law, Judy Williams of Brandon, MS and Jeanette Sullivan of Prattville, AL. Gerry is also survived by her 7 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
In lieu of flowers a memorial donation in her name can be made to the Arthritis Foundation or Parkway Baptist Church in Clinton, MS. Donations can also be made to any organization in her memory.
