Grace was born February 8, 1933 in Moorehead, MS to Ethel E. Roberts, and Vergie L. Dukes Roberts. Grace's life was characterized by love and dedication to her family and church.
As a housewife, mother, and grandmother, she lived a life marked by steady devotion, quiet strength, and a thoughtful way of caring for others which made her deeply beloved.
She married the love of her life Author Marion Griffing April 28, 1960, and they were blessed with 3 children. Grace was a member of First Pentecostal Church where her faith anchored her life a natural home in her community for over 20 years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son Ricky Ward, her grandson Jesse Griffing and her sisters Estelle and Louise and brother Charles (Sam).
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter Melinda Trigg McKenzie, her son Edgar Griffing Sr (Rebecca), daughter in law, Ann Ward, grandchildren Patricia Barnes-Smith, Stephanie Ward, Christy Dodd, Jenny Byrd, Eddy Griffing Jr., Emanuel James Trigg, Joshua Lynn Trigg, and Clifton Lee Trigg II. She also leaves behind 16 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
Grace will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but her family finds comfort in knowing she is now at peace in the presence of our Lord.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Saturday June 13, 2026 at Lakewood Funeral Home, 6011 Clinton Blvd, Jackson, Mississippi 39209, followed by the Funeral Service at Lakewood Funeral Home at 2:00 pm.
Final resting place will be at Lakewood Memorial Park, 6000 Clinton Blvd., Jackson.
