Grady was married to, Audrey (Gay), the love of his life for almost 54 years. He was a faithful and loving husband. Audrey went to heaven in 2004. Grady and Audrey had 3 children, Galyn Davis (deceased) who was married to Bettye Kent (Griffith), Gayla Davis Burt who is married to Dale, and Gary who is married to Pam (Golden). Together they gave him 7 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren.
Grady was a proud veteran and served in the United State Air Force for 20 years. He served in Korea and Vietnam. He loved the Air Force, and even in his declining years, often said he wished he could go back and serve again.
After retiring from the Air Force, Grady worked as a VoTech Instructor at Hinds Community College. He served there for 20 years and proudly trained many young men to become skilled auto and diesel mechanics.
Grady loved the Lord and his faith in God was the most important thing in his life. With Audrey by his side, they served in many capacities in their local church. Grady loved his family and was a role model of faithfulness, loyalty, and steadfastness.
Grady’s favorite pastime was visiting with friends and family over a cup of coffee. Even in his later years, he could be found almost daily at his favorite coffee shop laughing and talking with strangers. He shared his faith with so many around those tables and some of the patrons became his good friends.
As Grady’s memory declined, he never forgot how to pray and was often heard praying over the residents or caregivers at the home where he lived.
Grady won various awards during his service in the Air Force. He was very proud of these awards. But, to quote his wife, Audrey, “ His greatest reward will be when he gets to heaven and sees all of his children, grandchildren, and loved ones around the throne with Jesus.”
