Gustave Murphy

Gustave Murphy, Jr., 75, passed away at his home on Wednesday, February 19, 2020. Funeral services will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home on Friday, February 21 at 1:00 PM with visitation one hour prior. A committal service with full military honors will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park.

Mr. Murphy was born on July 8, 1944 in Carthage, MS. He served in the United States Army and later retired from the MS Army National Guard. Mr. Murphy worked for many years at their family owned business, Jackson Generator and Starter. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. One of his greatest joys was watching his grandchildren play sports.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Gustave Murphy, Sr. and Myrtis Montell Murphy; and brother, Eddie Murphy.

Mr. Murphy is survived by his wife, Lorraine Murphy; children, Rodney Brian Murphy (Joanna), Michael Scott Murphy (Jill), and Christina Murphy Tyrone (Josh); grandchildren, Hannah Murphy Benton (Robert), Samuel Murphy, John Patrick Murphy, Scott Thomas Murphy, Hallie Grace Murphy, Davis Murphy Tyrone and Langston Gustave Tyrone; brothers, Billy Hugh Murphy (Marie) and Benny Murphy (Amanda); sister, Dinah Miller (Gary); and numerous nieces, nephews and beloved friends.
