Mrs. Barnhart was born on February 13, 1921 in Bassfield, MS to the late Fred and Elizabeth Hathorn Manton. She graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi where she received a bachelor's degree in home economics. She began her career serving as a home extension agent with Mississippi State and later became head dietician at Baptist Hospital in Jackson. She was a long time member of the First Christian Church of Jackson.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Perry E. Barnhart, Jr.; parents, two brothers and one sister.
Mrs. Barnhart is survived by her son, David Barnhart (Annette).
