Mr. Henry Lee "Butch" Turner Jr.

Henry Lee “Butch” Turner Jr. 66, died at home in Starkville, MS after a long battle with illness. Mr. Turner is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Edna Turner; sisters, Patty Turner, Sue Turner, and Angela Strong, daughter, Bonnie Turner. He is survived by daughters, Renee Turner, Leigh Childs (Scott); son, Shane Fortenberry Leslee); grandchildren, Meaghan Seales, Hannah London, Madison turner, Alexis Turner, Hailey Fortenberry, Tyler Fortenberry, Emma Childs and three great-grandchildren. Butch was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served 8 years with distinction. He was a Military Police and veteran of the Vietnam War. He earned several medals, including the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and the Armed Forces Expeditionary medal, among others. The discipline and patriotism he learned in the Army never left him, as friends and family will attest. He grew up in Jackson, MS and worked for himself programming and providing maintenance for cash register systems in the restaurant and hotel industries. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December, 21, 2016 from 5-7 pm and Thursday, December 22, 2016 from 10-11 am at Lakewood Funeral Home. A chapel service will follow at 11 am with interment at Lakewood Memorial Park.
