

Hilda Christelle Williamson Ashley, Dec. 25, 1916 - May 23, 2017. She married Carroll Truett Ashley, Feb. 12, 1934 and together had 2 children: Joe Carroll Ashley and Faye Ashley Wilkinson (Cecil D. Wilkinson - deceased). Visitation will be held Friday, May 26 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. with the service to follow in the chapel of Lakewood Memorial Funeral Home. A private family graveside service will be held in Lakewood Memorial Park. Chris was born in Jeff Davis County, MS to Herston Williamson and Sarah Langston Williamson. She was baptized in Greens Creek at Society Hill Baptist Church and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church from 1940 to 1987, where she taught the 6 year-old Sunday School Class for 25 years. She was currently a member of First Baptist Church of Fannin. She worked for Ritter Food Stores for 15 years, Union Fork and Hoe for 35 years and then for Bill James Car Unloading Co for 5 years. Chris loved the Lord and showed that love to everyone throughout her life. She was a master seamstress and an excellent cook. She wore the title of Granny proudly. She loved and babysat her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She cared for her ill husband for approximately 27 years. She was a much loved sister, adored by her husband, loved and respected by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Chris is predeceased by her husband, parents, 2 sisters, 5 brothers, 1 son-in-law, 2 grandsons, Andrew Clayton Ashley and George Rainey Ashley and 1 great-great-grandson Truett Carroll Wilkinson. She is survived by 2 children and 3 grandchildren: Monty C. Wilkinson (Tammy), Mitch W. Wilkinson (Valerie) and Marti Wilkinson Lett (Robert). She also leaves 8 great-grandchildren: Matthew C. Wilkinson (Danyle), Bradley H. Wilkinson, J.T. Wilkinson, Ryan K. Wilkinson (Amanda), Allie F. Wilkinson, Brittany L. Badeaux (Broc), Joseph A. Lett (Kim) and Braxton J. Ashley; 5 great-great-grandchildren: Beckett V. Wilkinson, Alaina L. Wilkinson, Emma Grace Badeaux, Broc J., Badeaux, Addison C. Badeaux; and 31 nieces and nephews.
