

Jerald "Jerry" Wynsdohl Thomas passed on April 13, 2026, at the age of 79. Visitation will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home, 6011 Clinton Blvd, Jackson, Mississippi 39209, on Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am followed by the Funeral Service at 11:00 am. Jerry will be laid to rest at Lakewood Memorial Park, 6000 Clinton Blvd., Jackson.
Jerry was born in Waycross, Georgia on May 6, 1946 to the late John W. and Mary Sloan Thomas. He is preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Elbert Sloan and Molly Sloan; sister, Melony Cumbie. He is survived by his wife, Jan Isonhood Thomas; daughters, Jayme Smith (Lee) of Utica, MS and Jonna Thomas of Georgetown, KY; grandchildren, Walker Smith, Quinton Moize, Chase Smith and Miles Moize.
Jerry enjoyed his family, fixing equipment & cars & other outside hobbies such as fishing & hunting. He played the trombone in Waycross High School in Georgia and loved All State Band. He attended church at Central Baptist Church in Waycross, Georgia where Jerry sang in youth & adult choirs. Jerry had a beautiful voice, and had many opportunities to sing throughout his life. He continued playing the trombone throughout his life including a big band music group and in church orchestras.
Jerry attended Norman Park College in Georgia and attended Whitworth College in Brookhaven, Mississippi and his major was music education. Jerry worked many years at Stribling Puckett on Highway 80 in Jackson, MS.
His last place of employment was at Hinds Community College for 33 years as a teacher in the Vo-Tech division of Transportation Studies including all aspects of Diesel engines, transmissions, air conditioning & heating systems, braking systems, electrical systems & computer systems. Jerry enjoyed his students and maintained friendships of many of his students as their careers began and continued through the years.
Jerry loved his family and was a wonderful spouse for 56 years and a wonderful father to his children.
