

Eva “Jewel” French of Terry, MS passed away peacefully on Monday, September 8, 2025 at the age of 94. Jewel was born on January 19, 1931 to Lois (Traxler) and Clarence Echols in Pocahontas, where she was raised. After graduating as Miss Flora High from Flora High School, she then attended Hinds Community College in Raymond, MS.
Jewel married the love of her life Bob French on September 10, 1955. Jewel was a devoted Christian, Wife and Mother to Scott, Kerry and Sharon, her pride, and joy, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and Friend. As a homemaker, the table would always be full of delicious food, love, and laughter but not before a prayer was said. She loved like no other and was always willing to lend a hand to anybody in need. She was a member of Parkway Baptist Church for many years; where she raised her children, gained lifelong friendships, and sang in the choir. Later, she became a member of First Baptist Church of Raymond.
Jewel enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, going to Church, reading, painting, sewing, cooking, watching sports, and bowling.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff and nurses at The Arbor for helping us take such great care of her.
Jewel is survived by her sons; Scott French (Robin), Kerry French (Judy); and daughter Sharon French; her grandchildren Lori Taylor, Nicole Anderson, Meghan Peeples, James French, Matt French, many nieces and nephews and great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held Friday September 12, 2025 from 10 AM to 11 AM at Lakewood Funeral Home, 6011 Clinton Blvd. Jackson, MS 39209 followed by a celebration of life at 11 AM. She will be laid to rest in Lakewood Memorial Park 6000 Clinton Blvd. Jackson, MS 39209
