Rev. Joe K Hill, 87 passed away on Monday, March 14, 2022 at the MS State Veterans Home in Jackson, MS. Funeral services will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home on Thursday, March 17 at 2:00 PM, with visitation at 1:00 PM. A committal service will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park.
Rev. Hill was born on June 23, 1934 in Meadville MS. After graduating from Meadville High School, he married his kindergarten sweetheart, Jo-Ann Temple. He then served in the US Army in Germany. Returning home, he enrolled at Mississippi College where he earned a degree in Bible and School Administration.
He worked in a bi-vocational capacity as Minister for several churches while working in school administration all across Mississippi. Prior to his retirement, he served as Director of Missions in Franklin County for six years.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Jo-Ann Hill, daughter Ann Tynes (Thomas), grandson Thomas Tynes III (Frances), and Brandon Tynes (Lindsay). Three great-grandchildren, Kathryn Tynes, Caroline Tynes and Nolan Tynes.
It is requested, that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to The Gideons International.
