John King Pickett, Jr.,84, of Clinton, Mississippi, formerly Clermont, FL, went home to be with the Lord May 27, 2017. He passed away peacefully surrounded by family. He was born in Birmingham, AL, May 2, 1933, to John King Pickett, Sr. and Christine Marguerite Dendy. He attended Woodlawn High School in Birmingham and the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa where he was first chair trumpet in the Million Dollar Band. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He worked with Hanna Steel Corporation in Fairfield, AL for over 30 years. Upon retirement, he and his wife moved to central Florida where they lived for over 20 years before returning to Clinton. He was also a Mason and Shriner. John is survived by two children, Jack Pickett and Kim Golden, 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
