John M. Rape

John Melvin Rape, 82, passed away on September 17, 2015. He was born on November 27, 1932 in Okolona, MS to the late, Sherman Lee and Dolly Bressler Rape.Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 19th from 1-2 pm at Lakewood South Funeral Home on McCluer Road in Jackson. A funeral service will be held at 2 pm with burial at Lakewood South Memorial Park to follow. John served in the Army during the Korean War, and was a member of the American Legion Post 112. He worked for United Produce and Bryan Foods in West Point, MS; and then went to work for Exxon in Jackson, MS where he later retired after many years of service. John was preceded in death by Dorothy Norwood, Mildred Haynes, Noel Rape, Roy Rape, and Mary Burkholder. He is survived by his four children from West Point, MS, Larry Rape, Stan Rape, Gayla Johnson (Barry), and Teresa Henley; two brothers, Sherman Rape (Joyce) of Greenwood, MS and Richard Rape (Brenda) of West Point, MS; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.Special thanks to his friend, Maureen Watt and his caregiver, Nick Norwood.
