Family and friends are heartbroken by the loss of their dear Julia “Julie” Elise Spencer of Ridgeland. Her passing on March 31 from pneumonia, mere weeks after her 43rd birthday, leaves a hole in their lives and in her community. A memorial service is at 2 PM April 15 at The Chapel of the Cross in Madison, with a visitation at 1 PM and gathering following.
Vivacious and lovely, Julie will be remembered for her fierce devotion, wry wit, and smile that lit up every occasion like fireworks.
Born in 1980, Julie grew up in Jackson and Madison, volunteered at the Episcopalian youth Camp Bratten-Green as a teen, and graduated from Jackson Academy. Higher education included studies at Mississippi College and the University of Mississippi before finishing at the University of Southern Mississippi. She channeled her keen interest in social justice into a career as a paralegal in Hattiesburg, Jackson, and Ridgeland, most recently with Taggart, Rimes & Wiggins.
She was a devout animal lover, an imaginative and generous big sister, and a fun, loyal friend. Julie’s deep knowledge of craft beer fueled her advocacy with Raise Your Pints and good times with JXN Barley’s Angels. Her winning smile flashed from Verde Do Krewe’s float yearly in Hal’s St. Paddy’s Parade.
Julie’s radiance will be sorely missed by everyone touched by her generous spirit and boundless love. She is survived by her mother, Marsha Spencer of Madison; her father, Frank Spencer and his wife Carol of Jackson and New Orleans; her brother, Jonathan Spencer and his wife Kristen of Maplewood, MO; her “person,” Anders Ferrington of Ridgeland, and her relatives and friends across the country.
