It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Lauren English Metzger. She fought a courageous battle with colon cancer but passed away peacefully on August 15, 2024 at the young age of 55.
She was the eldest daughter of Olis and Elsie English born on January 14, 1969 in Jackson, Mississippi. She is survived by her only daughter, Elizabeth Metzger of Watertown, WI and her sister Kellye Willis (Kevin) of Brandon, MS, and nephews Kanon Willis (Brandon), Kruz Willis (Brandon), and niece Klaye Willis (Brandon) along with multiple cousins and uncles. Lauren was predeceased by her loving parents, grandparents, and multiple aunts, uncles and cousins.
Lauren was a loving mother, sister, daughter, and friend who touched the lives of everyone she met with her kindness, compassion, and keen line of conversational questioning that she perfected over the years.
She colored her world with purple (her favorite color) as much as she could and gave the best hugs one could ever get. She loved all things “Disney” and would not miss a hometown parade if she could help it. She had a special way of connecting with friends and family through her famous facebook ‘shout outs’. Amidst all the challenges of life, her faith remained strong, and she found peace in reciting the “Lord’s Prayer” with her sister, which gave her strength, courage, and peace.
Lauren was a beacon of light in our lives, spreading joy and love wherever she went. She was truly a child at heart with her innocent outlook on the world and her precious love of life. Her dedication to helping others was unparalleled, especially in her volunteer work at Lakeshore Church in the children's center. She had a special connection with the children and brought smiles to their faces with her kindness and compassion.
Beyond her work at the church, Lauren had a deep love for animals. She found solace and purpose in volunteering at the Mississippi Animal Rescue League, where she dedicated her time to caring for and finding homes for animals in need. The rescue organization gave her a sense of fulfillment and purpose during a time when she needed it most.
Lauren will be remembered for her absolute love of Jesus, her selflessness, her unwavering positive spirit, and her love for all living creatures. Her impact on the lives she touched will never be forgotten.
A memorial service to celebrate Lauren’s life will be held on August 20, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Lakeshore Church in Byram, MS with visiting an hour prior. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mississippi Animal Rescue League or Lakeshore Church in her honor.
Rest in peace, dear sister. Your love and light will continue to shine brightly in our hearts.
