Pappaw let me be me. Whether I was running around barefoot harassing the mechanics in the shop, running back and forth from his house to the back shop, playing in the chicken coop, pig pen , junk cars or on his tractor, he never got upset with me (that I recall) except the one time I walked to the cow pasture by myself & he gave me my one and only “whoopin”. He was also just as proud of me in my tutu and ballet shoes or Easter dress and white gloves. He taught me how to chew tobacco, spit, run a trot line and splint my bunny’s leg with a popsicle stick. Memories I wouldn’t trade for anything. I loved my childhood and Mr. Lester Day “Pappaw” has an awful lot to do with it being such an adventure. I don’t know a whole lotta kids who actually got a real pony for their birthday, but I did..... Thank you, Pappaw. You better behave up there. Love you always, Leslie Lou

Growing up with Debra and Genie there were a lot of weekends spent with Lester and Betty camping or boating. Betty and my mom were friends before her passing then my mom and Lester were "buddies" until her passing. They loved talking about the "good ole days". I certainly hope they are all enjoying catching up now. Lester, you worked hard while here on earth and that job is now done.....Rest in Peace and give my brother David and my mom a big hug from me. Soar high and enjoy your flight!!!
