Lillie Dale Korlath

Our Mother, Lillie Dale Korlath, age 87, passed away on November 13, 2014 after a ten year battle with heart disease. In 1957 our father died leaving her with three young children: Judy, Bill, and Sharon. At that time we were living in Glen Dale, WV. Mom, being a Mississippian, decided we should move back near her family. She functioned as our mother and father and always made due with the little we had. We have always been thankful for the job she did raising us. Mom was fiercely independent and never asked help from anyone. Being the private person she was, her wishes were to have a private graveside service with just the family. The service will be held on Tuesday, November 18, at the Lakewood Funeral Home with interment at Lakewood Memorial Cemetery in Jackson. Lillie Korlath is survived by three children: William (Barbara) of Raymond,MS; Judy (Jerry) Dawson of Chattanooga; and Sharon Vinson of Murphy, NC. She also leaves behind three grandchildren: Christopher (Samantha) Dawson; William(Betty) Sanderford; and Jon Korlath. Lillie loved animals of all types, especially dogs. Her last dog was an eighty pound boxer named Annie. They adored each other. She described life as a never ending adventure. She loved to sew, read, and tend to her flowers. We will miss her, but she was tired and ready to go home. In lieu of flowers she requested donations be made to CARA(Community Animal Rescue and Adoptions of Mississippi) or to the Salvation Army.
