Lynn Reid

Lynn was born on February 21, 1953, in Eupora, Mississippi to Marvin (preceded in death) and Clois Minyard. She studied art at Hinds Community College in Raymond, MS. After graduation, she worked as a graphic artist for McRae’s, Nick’s Printing, Amacker Inc. and a few other businesses before eventually starting her own graphic design business. She worked from home for many years until retiring in 2020 to help care for her grandchildren.

Lynn was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, and friend who loved spending time with her family and giving her time to others. Over the years, she gave back to her community in ways that were uniquely hers and Timmy’s, including helping create a haunted house that benefited the Muscular Dystrophy Association and helping with the family’s St. Paddy’s Float benefitting the Children’s Hospital.

But, most importantly, Lynn also knew how to let her hair down and have a good time. During the summers, she could often be found sitting on a beach enjoying the company of friends. At other times, she might be on the dance floor, or at Flag Island, anywhere she went she was with good people smiling and laughing. She was always prepared to help someone with whatever they might need. If you left home without bringing it, the odds were good that Lynn would have it, this is what earned her the name “Mama Lynn.” She also loved to travel and saw the beauty in all of God’s creations. And when she wanted a little time to herself, she could be found curled up somewhere with a good book. Lynn loved people, she loved life, and she loved family more than anything. Spending time with the people she loved brought her tremendous joy, but perhaps nothing brought her more happiness than the time she spent spoiling her grandchildren.

Lynn is preceded in life by her loving husband, Timmy Reid (53 years), and her brother Ricky Minyard; she is survived by daughter, Leigh Ann Hawthorne (Dan); son Jimmy Reid (Maria); grandchildren Waverly Hawthorne and Booth Reid; mother Clois Minyard; sisters Diana Taylor (Kyle), Cathy O’Neal, Pam Minyard, and Missy Jones (Jeff); sister in law Paulette Todd (Lewis); brother in law Sammee Reid (Polly); along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 2, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Lakewood Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 6011 Clinton Boulevard, Jackson, MS 39209.

A second visitation will be held Saturday, October 3, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by the memorial service at 11:00 am at Lakewood Funeral Home & Memorial Park.
