Mrs. Martha L. Richardson

Martha West Lunceford Richardson died on Sunday, April 22, 2018. She was born at her parents’ home in Slate Springs, MS on August 28, 1923. After graduating from Slate Springs High School, Martha went to secretarial school in Jackson and took a job working for Malvaney & Associates. While in Jackson she met and married her husband, Marvin E. Richardson. Together they founded and ran MS Time Instruments Company.

Martha loved to travel, especially in the mountains, and enjoyed camping. She was an avid reader and liked bird watching. For many years Martha taught children’s Sunday School at Oak Forest Baptist Church where she was a long time member.

Survivors include her daughter Susan Richardson, and honorary daughter Beth (George) Sansing, granddaughter Suzanne (Mike) Catlin, and great-grandson Sean Catlin. Her brother Travis (Lyda) and sisters-in-law Sue and Nell Lunceford also survive her.

She now enjoys a wonderful reunion with her husband, Marvin; parents, Rev. Elbert Elmore Lunceford and Clara West Lunceford; her brothers Herbert (Mary, Mary Katherine), Leroy (Chris), Jasper (Mavis), Ovis (Grace), Marvin, James (Helen), Durell, and Joe (Ora) Lunceford, along with her sister, Opal Lunceford Allday (Gilbert).

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. at Lakewood Memorial Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 25th. A second visitation takes place at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 26th before the funeral at 11:00, also at Lakewood. Graveside services will follow at Lakewood Cemetery.
