

Matthew A. Bataille, “Matt”, 55, of Jackson, Mississippi, passed away following a sudden medical emergency on August 15, 2026. He will be remembered as a devoted father, accomplished executive, innovator, Army Reserve veteran, and caring friend. A cum laude graduate of the University of Rochester, he earned his Juris Doctor from Vanderbilt University School of Law, where he played ice hockey and participated in pro bono activities.
Throughout his career, Matt worked in business development and helped build and grow diverse organizations. He held several silica-filtration patents, received the 2003 National Award of Excellence from Infinity, was a Big Brother Little Brother Mentor, was a principal in major development projects, assisted professional athletes in establishing nonprofit and educational foundations, and advocated for NFL clients in federal concussion litigation. He later focused his talents on expanding access to hearing-loop technology for people who use hearing aids and cochlear implants. Most recently, he worked in business development for a commercial and municipal lighting service company.
Matt enjoyed travel and adventure, scuba diving, and cheering for the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres. He is survived by his parents, Donald and Paula Bataille of Pittsford, NY; his sons, Hudson Bataille of New Orleans, LA, and Jackson Bataille of New York City, NY; and his brother, Brian Bataille, sister-in-law, Julie Bataille, and their four children of McLean VA.
A visiting time with family has been scheduled for Saturday, September 12, 2026, 2 to 4 pm at the Lakeland Funeral Home, 6011 Clinton Blvd., Jackson, MS 39209. A Celebration of Life is being scheduled on October 24, 2026 in Rochester, NY.
