Maurice Thomas, Jr. passed away on June 16, 2019 in Pearl, MS. Visitation will be on Friday, June 21, 2019 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Lakewood Funeral Home with a funeral service at 2:00 pm. Interment to follow at Lakewood Memorial Park.
Maurice was born on December 13, 1944 in French Camp, MS to the late Maurice Thomas, Sr. and Eunice Thomas. He started working at the age of 12 digging ditches and later he studied to be an architect but decided to help his father with the family business. Maurice and his brothers, Homer and John, ran United Plumbing Company together. He served his country in the Air Force and a Vietnam Veteran. He loved airplanes and enjoyed flying. He was a fighter and believed you should fight the good fight and never give up. His strength was admirable and was a man of steel. Maurice was a good brother, father, grandfather, husband, soldier and lastly a survivor. He was a perfectionist like his father and was fearless, artistic, humble and wise. He was a rare bird and there was no one quite like him. He will be deeply missed.
Maurice is preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle Thomas. He is survived by his children, Jennifer Thomas, Kelsey Fortenberry and Gina Gonzales; siblings, Homer, Thomas, John Thomas and Deleon Thomas; grandchildren, Somer Land, Karma Land, Trinity Fortenberry, Sydney Gonzales and Anthony Merze.
